Bubba was left behind on a chain when his family moved away.  He was very lucky a good Samaritan took him in and loved him until she found our rescue and brought him to us.  Bubba Is Now In a Loving New Home with a Great New Family in Iowa
Cassie was rescued by us on her last day at a high kill shelter.  She was out of time and would have been put to sleep had we not given this gal a chance.  She was dumped at the animal shelter because she kept getting pregnant!!  Cassie was very malnourished and in bad condition when we rescued her.  That however never stopped her from waggin her nubby and giving kisses to everyone she met!!  She is now a spoiled Rotten house dog with her new family in Louisville, KY and She will NEVER have to worry about getting pregnant again!!
Haley came to us as an owner surrender from a wonderful family who just couldn't keep her due to her high energy and her being so powerful.  Haley Is now in a loving new home in Louisville KY.
Lugar came to us as an owner surrender he spent his life on a chain because his family refused to take the time to work with him and give him proper exercise.  Lugar was a wonderful dog who just needed a job to do.  Lugar Has Been Adopted by a wonderful new & responsible family in Paris IL
Dee another Classic Case Of Falling Into The Wrong Hands
He was loved and a part of the family until he got bigger and required work and then he was tossed out on a chain in the back yard.  He was breaking his chain and causing problems in the neighborhood he just wanted love & affection what his owner was failing to give him.  All of the neighbors banned together and talked the owner into finding a rescue for Dee that's when he joined us.  He is now VERY much loved and Spoiled by his new family in Northern Indiana.
Miss Maggie was another who was thrown away by some uncaring person a good Samaritan saw to it she found a safe rescue that's when she joined us.  Maggie was with us for over a year before we found the right family for her and she is one I will never forget.  I love all dogs but this special little girl took a part of my heart with her when she left me.  Maggie Is now Very Much Loved and Spoiled Rotten by her new owner in Louisville KY
Kiana yet another wonderful Pit bull terrier who was abused and neglected.  We rescued Kiana and all of her puppies from a neglectful home.  Kiana's ears have been cut off she has no ears left but what she lacks in ears she makes up in personality!!  This little gal is working with us on obedience training she has already earned her American Kennel Clubs Canine Good Citizen Title & Is now a certified Therapy dog!!  Who Says Pit Bulls Are Bad!! Kiana is working to earn her AKC obedience titles now and is getting ready to become a big sister to a new human baby in December 2008.   This little gal has come a long way in such a short time her and her new owner have an amazing bond this is really one grateful pitbull terrier!!  She now lives with her new owner in Pekin IN and that tail NEVER stops wagging!!
Miss Lilly yet another wonderful little dog I will never forget!!

We rescued Lilly from a High Kill Animal Shelter she was once someone's family companion but for some reason they dumped her at an animal shelter.  She was adopted from the shelter but returned in 3 days due to the fact if you didn't take her out side she would pee in the floor??? Not Sure what that family was thinking!!   They too took the easy road and dumped her back at the same high kill shelter they adopted her from!!  The shelter contacted us and told us her story that's when she joined us.  Lilly is a Puggle the Hybrid mix Pug with a Beagle the newest craze in the dog world.  She was with us for 15 months before we were able to find the perfect home for Lilly she is now as happy as a happy little Puggle can be with her new family in Louisville KY.  She could always make me laugh with her snorts her grunts, and that mushy little face.
These are just a very few of the many wonderful dogs we have rescued and found new and loving families for.  There will be many more please check back often to see the new faces who have found great new families

Her new family said they now couldn't imagine life without her!!
This little Boxer Girl will always hold a special place in my heart!!
She was one of the hardest dogs for me say goodbye too after I rescued her!!  Stella has a heartbreaking story with a super happy ending.  Stella was surrendered to our rescue by her owner.  He bought this cute little boxer as an  8 weeks old puppy and she was a member of their family until she started growing and being a happy bouncy Boxer puppy.  The owner was fighting some problems of his own and simply put Stella out of sight and out of mind literally :-(.  For 5-6 months of this little Boxers life she was confined to a medium size house training crate that was kept in a dark building with a dirt floor no windows.  Stella was never let out of her crate they dumped her food through the crate when they remembered to feed her  and basically left her there to exist.  Finally the owners family talked the owner into giving this great little dog up to rescue.  Actually they contacted the animal shelter first and because Stella was so shy the animal shelter said that she would be put down.  Stella was Lucky the family member trying to help Stella worked with a friend of mine and she told her about my rescue/rehab program for dogs.  That's when Stella's Life changed!!  They didn't even bother to take Stella out of the crate before bringing her here.  They simply loaded Stella Crate and all which was covered in feces into the back of the truck and dropped Stella off on my door step.  This poor little gal was a mess!!  Her coat was not typical of a Boxer's coat because she was locked in the dark building her coat didn't know what season it was and she didn't go through the seasonal shedding process.  She had a heavy coat like a German Shepherd when she came and she was just simply terrified of everything she encountered!!  With a lot of love, dedication, and daily brushing this once terrified little ugly duckling turned into this happy social beautiful boxer girl that you see in the photo above!!  She was the most grateful rescue dog I have ever rescued anything she was given she cherished even her little soft squeaky toys never had a tooth mark in them.  I bonded with this little girl so strong that it ripped my heart out when she was adopted.  Her adoption was the most bitter sweet adoption I have ever done with a rescue.  I was so happy for her to find a family that I knew would give her the kind of life Stella had only dreamed of but letting her go after the bond that we built was one of the hardest things I have ever done.  I am super happy to report that after a few days Stella settled into her new family and she is living the life she should have always had!!  Her family adores this little Boxer girl as much as I did and finally Stella is happy and safe!!

Miss Rosie Is Another That Has Her Four Paws Wrapped Around My Heart!!
I am sure you recognize this face :-)  If not go back to our home page she is our long term resident and rescue mascot Miss Rosie.  I first heard about Rosie in July 2007 from a concerned dog lover in Kentucky.  She contacted me to ask if I could please help this sweet Bullmastiff who is now known as Rosie.  She informed me that Rosie was picked up by animal control and that it looked like she had just given birth to puppies but that animal control never bothered looking for the litter they just brought Rosie in and left her day old puppies most likely to die.  Rosie was in not only a very high kill shelter but an over crowded shelter that housed as many as 8 dogs to one kennel outside in the heat.  Rosie had a terrible infection, ear mites, her hair was almost gone, her ears from constantly scratching were thick almost rubber like to the touch, several her teeth had been kicked out/pulled out?, she was scarred up, and this poor gal trusted no one and with good reason!!  The shelter was getting tired of dealing with her she was large and cowered in the corner any time someone approached Rosie had given up and was waiting to close her eyes for the last time.

Sadly I wasn't able to travel such a distance to go get Rosie and just when I was beginning to think this poor girls last days would be spent in the shelter a very dear friend of mine and animal lover herself offered to go get Rosie and give her a ride to my rescue.  Rosie got her freedom on the 4th of July 2007 and she hasn't looked back since!!  Rosie will probably live the rest of her life out here at Amy's K9s due to the severe neglect from the hands of her previous owner she has had a hard life and it shows in her appearance most people aren't willing to look past her sagging tummy due to whom ever had her breeding her so many times, her thick ears, and her scars but that's ok.  Rosie is the sweetest mastiff girl and she has earned her spot here at Amy's K9s.  Rosie has made a remarkable recovery and she is one of my favorite rescue girls.  Below are before photos when Rosie first joined us.
The three photos above show how neglected Rosie was these are some of the less graphic photos.

Below you will find photos of a New & Improved and most importantly A Happy & Spoiled Rotten Bullmastiff enjoying her new life at Amy's K9s
